Medical License

To be certified, applicants must at the time of application, hold a current and unconditional license to practice medicine and must provide a copy of the current license.

Testamurs: Individuals enrolled in a fellowship or residency program in Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine or Radiology who are on a training or institutional medical license, may apply to sit for the exam as Testamurs. Certification and issuance of CBNC certificates will only be granted, however, when all requirements are met within 6 years of the examination. Such candidates who pass the examination will be listed as “Testamur” until all requirements for a current, full unconditional license AND

  • U.S. APPLICANTS: Board Certification in Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine or Radiology is received by the CBNC office.
  • NON-U.S. APPLICANTS:  Documentation of completion for primary specialtist training in Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine or Radiology is received by the CBNC office. [A diploma or national registration as a specialist in the above mentioned primary specialties or a letter of completion from the Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine or Radiology Program where the applicant trained].

Regardless of when a Testamur becomes a Diplomate, CBNC certification will expire 10 years from the date of passing the examination.

Limited Licensure U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: Individuals on a limited license designated to serve in an underserved area due to citizenship status may also apply to sit for the exam as Testamurs. The above requirements regarding full licensure and board certification prior to converting to Diplomate status and issuance of CBNC certificate apply.

Document Content and Format:

Applicants may use any of the following to document their medical license: a photocopy of your medical license wallet card; a photocopy of your wall mounted license; or a printout from your state medical board website.

At a minimum, the documentation must include the applicant’s name, issuing state/country, status (e.g., unrestricted; training, etc.) and expiration date (if issued in the U.S.).

Note to Testamurs – Applicants with a training medical license must provide a copy of their training medical license in addition to a letter on institutional letterhead from their Program Director stating the duration of training in the program as well as confirming that the individual is a fellow/resident in good standing.
