CBNC conducts periodic analyses of the practice to identify the tasks performed by physicians practicing nuclear cardiology and the knowledge required to perform these tasks. The purpose of these practice analyses is to ensure that the examination content accurately reflects the current practice of nuclear cardiology. To accomplish this, a carefully constructed survey is sent to a representative sample of physicians practicing within the profession. The results are analyzed by a cross section of experts in the field. The result is the following outline of knowledge areas upon which the examination in nuclear cardiology is based.
The CBNC certification examination contains 160 questions and the recertification examination contains 100 questions. The CBNC examinations cover the following content areas. All percentages are an approximate distribution of the questions across the content areas.

These four domains reflect the practice of nuclear cardiology. Each domain includes a series of tasks which are involved in that area of practice. The tasks are supported by statements of the knowledge, skill or ability required to accomplish them. Domain percentages are approximate.
